Acupuncture and Back Pain

Anyone who has ever suffered with chronic back pain will tell you that it is one of the most miserable experiences that anyone will ever experience.  While in many cases chronic back pain is the result of a specific injury or other issue; in other cases it is a result of a generic sprain or a stain.  Often the strain or sprain gets worse, as the pain prevents the patient’s body from relaxing and ultimately healing, which compounds the problem.

No matter what the underlying cause is, the pain often impacts the person’s quality of life, as well as their activities.  While there are a number of drugs available to relieve the pain of chronic back pain, there is a natural alternative back pain treatment available as well. Acupuncture, which is a natural treatment that dates back to 3 A.D. in China, is highly effective solution to relieving chronic back pain.

Originally used to regulate the female reproductive system and promote fertility, acupuncture has been found to increase blood circulation to different parts of the body and relaxes the muscles.  In addition, it has been found to reduce pain immediately, as the needles stimulate points on the patient’s body, which releases the body’s natural painkillers called endorphins.  Research has also shown that acupuncture increases the electromagnetic signals between the different cells in the body, which decreases pain and promotes healing.

Today, conventional medical doctors recognize the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment in treating chronic pain of all types.  As a result, they often refer their patient’s for acupuncture treatment, as a part of their overall treatment plan!
