Finding a Qualified Plastic Surgeon
There are television shows that are dedicated to the horror stories of people who chose the wrong plastic surgeon to do their cosmetic surgery. Not only did they pay to have an expensive procedure performed and did not get the results they desired, they also are faced with having to pay to have the surgery redone or repaired. Before deciding to have cosmetic surgery, the most important decision you will make is finding a qualified plastic surgeon that will get you the results you want. Here are a few tips to help you find a surgeon that will do the procedure right the first time.
- Make sure they are trained in plastic surgery. Just because a surgeon can do plastic surgery does not mean they trained to become a plastic surgeon. Research their education and training. You want a surgeon that is board certified in plastic surgery, not another medical discipline.
- Will the surgery be performed at an accredited hospital? If your plastic surgeon is qualified, he can perform your surgery at an accredited hospital as the hospital will verify they have the credentials to do so.
- Ask for referrals. Don’t just rely on before and after photos as referrals. Ask for patient referrals from your surgeon.
It is not enough for a plastic surgeon to have a beautiful clinic or fancy degrees hanging on the walls. You want a plastic surgeon that is trained and experienced in performing the exact surgery you are requesting. It is worth the extra time and effort to find a qualified plastic surgeon that will listen to your concerns and ultimately give you the desired results.
