Is Liposuction Right for Me?
April 10, 2016
There are times even when you diet and exercise that certain areas on your body still retain unwanted fat. It may be genetics, metabolism or just the way your body is shaped – regardless of the reason, it can be frustrating. Although liposuction isn’t for everyone, it might be a solution if you have been struggling to get the body shape you desire. Here are a few ways liposuction can help and a few ways it will not to help you decide if liposuction is right for you.
- Liposuction is great for targeted areas. Liposuction is best used for a certain targeted area that you want to reduce in size. Often this is on the stomach, thighs, hips, arms or neck, an area that isn’t responding to diet or exercise.
- Liposuction is a permanent solution. Liposuction removes the fat cells, which once gone, do not grow back. This means that even if you gain weight in the future, it won’t be necessarily in the same spot.
- Liposuction is not for weight loss. Those with a large amount of weight to lose are not good candidates for liposuction. This procedure is not meant to replace a good diet and exercise for overall weight loss, only help remove fat from isolated areas.
- Liposuction does not remove cellulite. Cellulite on thighs, hips or abdomens will not be removed with liposuction. It may improve the silhouette of the area but if there was cellulite before, there still may be cellulite after liposuction.
The best way to determine whether liposuction is right for your needs is to consult a dermatologist that offers tumescent liposuction. The physician can evaluate your problem areas and offer advice on whether liposuction is the solution for your body sculpting needs.
