Plantar Fasciitis Symptoms and Remedies

Published on: July 19, 2017

Since feet are our main mode of getting around, any foot pain that we experience can be a real hindrance to our lives. Plantar Fasciitis can be a common cause of foot pain. The plantar fascia is a tissue that connects your heel to your toe bones The pain comes from a swelling in that tissue. It can happen for any number of reasons, but is commonly found in runners, those who are overweight, or people wearing the wrong size shoes.

Some common symptoms of plantar fasciitis include:

  • Pain in your heel
  • Pain in the bottom of your foot
  • Pain when walking after being stationary

Remedies that can help the plantar fasciitis pain:

  • Shoes or shoe inserts. Sometimes it’s as easy as buying a new pair of shoes or inserts that are well fitted for your foot, and body movement
  • Maybe you are overextending the use of your feet and just need some rest and ice. Take a load off and put your feet up.
  • Physical Therapy. A physical therapist will be able to give you proper stretches to help relieve that strain on your plantar fascia.
  • Sometimes you just need some relief right now, to make it through the pain. An over-the-counter pain reliever might help or your doctor might recommend a steroid shot.
  • Surgery. If all else fails, surgery is an option, but is rarely needed.

No need to spend extra time, money, or experience more pain trying to figure out the problem yourself. If you think that you might have Plantar Fasciitis, an orthopedic specialist or sport’s physician will be the best to diagnose and help you find the right treatment. Make the call today, so that you can get pain relief right away!
