Unusual Signs of Menopause
June 25, 2016
When women reach their mid-40 and early 50’s, their bodies undergo dramatic changes. Sometimes these inner biological alterations go on without many outward sign, but more times than not, the average woman experiences multiple symptoms. Some of these are mild or short lived, but many times these alterations are severe or awkwardly hard to pin point to a cause. This can leave an already sensitive woman feeling alone, embarrassed and usually frustrated when seeking relief.
Apart from the well-known changes in the menstrual cycle and emotional irritability, there are a wide variety of unusual symptoms that women may experience. Often these issues are treated individually rather than as part of the menopausal experience, leading to further complications and unfortunately getting further away from the basic underlying issue. Many women complain of:
- Dizziness, light-headedness
- Electric shock sensation under skin and in the head
- Increases in allergies
- Tensions in muscles
- Memory lapses
- Changes in body odor
- Burning tongue
- Gastrointestinal distress
This is just a small list of possible signs of menopause. Some occur only on occasion and others can reach an almost chronic level. Each women’s body responds to the inward chemical change differently.
There is some comfort in knowing you’re not alone, but when symptoms progressively overwhelm your life or hinder your everyday functionality, it may be time to seek help from someone who understands and can help. More women are increasingly seeking the care of the naturopathic doctor who will listen to her and seek out the root of their symptoms. Taking the holistic approach will many times lead to easy solutions to what may have seemed to be a complicated issue.
